What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is the bypass of the Critical Factor plus the establishment of Selective Thinking.
The Critical Factor or Critical Faculty of the mind is the Gateway between the Conscious Mind and the Subconscious Mind, also sometimes known especially in NLP circles as one's Unconscious Mind.
Perhaps you could begin to picture the Critical Factor like a Watchdog, standing guard, it is there to protect you, to keep you safe.
Keeping You Stuck:
This watchdog or guard dog is analysing all of the incoming information gathered through your senses, to identify, whether the information coming in, fits with your current map of the world. You know, built up over a lifetime. For sure some of those patterns, are beneficial for you and to you, supporting you and moving you forward but others for example, a phobia or panic attacks, or shyness, most definitely hold you back!
Owing to the Critical Factor acting as that guard within your Mind, you are more resistant to change and far less likely to accept new ways of thinking, feeling and acting, even though these might well be highly beneficial for you. It is as if you are stuck and operating within limited beliefs.
How Hypnosis Can Assist you:
Now the cool way in which Hypnosis helps you, is that using hypnosis a hypnotherapist can move through, around, or over, your Watchdog and bypass it completely!
Once this is done then you can begin with your hypnotherapist's help to make those all important changes in your beliefs about yourself, your habitual patterns of behaviours too by changing your thinking in a positive direction, which will alter your feelings for the better and lead to new better behaviours.
Hypnosis Is Natural:
Every time we drift off to sleep we are entering hypnosis. In fact falling to sleep is known as the Hypnogogic State and awakening the Hypnopompic State.
In addition being totally absorbed in a daily activity is a form of hypnosis, for example driving a well known route on autopilot, or being totally caught up in your favourite hobby or sport or engrossed in a movie. It is all hypnosis, however, a professional Hypnotherapist like myself, is using a specialised form of hypnosis to help you to change for the better in the areas of your life you desire improvement.

What is Integrative Hypnotherapy? & Integrative Psychotherapy?
That is a good question, one which I will now attempt to explain.
There are many approaches to hypnotherapy and that is hardly surprising as hypnotherapy is in reality simply talking therapy within hypnosis. As such one can find brief solution focused hypnotherapists, cognitive hypnotherapists, clinical hypnotherapists, mindfulness hypnotherapists, suggestion hypnotherapists and of course named after the great hypnotherapist Milton Erickson, Ericksonian hypnotherapists.
There are also many approaches, perhaps even more, to Psychotherapy including behavioural, cognitive, humanistic, analytical such as psychoanalysis plus psycho-dynamic.
Why do I term myself an Integrative Hypnotherapist? & Integrative Psychotherapist.
I call myself an Integrative Hypnotherapist & Integrative Psychotherapist because I am trained in and certified independently as a psychotherapist plus independently trained in and certified as a Counsellor in Professional Stress Management.
In fact I can work with you as a client outside of therapeutic hypnosis by utilising proven psychological and psychotherapy methods in an integrated model. The integrated model of Psychotherapy is also termed Holistic Psychotherapy.
