A very detailed look at the reasoning that the UK Government is following in terms of dealing with the ongoing Pandemic. This is a MUST read to stay well informed:
This article from the UK Government's comprehensive Public Health Blog is a MUST read:
Okay here goes, some may ask for what specific reason I as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist no longer offer Face 2 Face Sessions which I did offer from 2005 onward, firstly working for charities and then opening my Clinic in Leamington Spa in 2006 and subsequently another Clinic in Warwick.
The Background to Going Online Therapy Only:
I loved seeing people Face 2 Face, however, the Pandemic quite frankly changed all that because in March last year I suddenly found like a lot of us, that my premises were shut by my Landlord. They had to close because of the Pandemic and the Lockdown.
At first I continued to pay all of the costs associated with running a Face 2 Face Clinic, whilst at the same time, I had to continue my existing Clients treatment programmes, so I had to go to what is called Online or Remote Therapy, in addition I needed income to live and survive as all my business costs plus living costs continued.
After some months of paying into the Face 2 Face Clinics but seeing no Face 2 Face Clients and not knowing how long the initial Lockdown was going to continue, I decided to cut my losses plus devote all of my time and focus plus attention to Online Therapy.
I am heartened that I did make that very challenging decision because we subsequently had a second plus then a third Lockdown did we not.
In addition no one can predict how this new virus will play out and there may well be the need for further Lock-downs to act as fire-breakers as it were. I am aware of all the so called "hidden costs" of Lock-downs in terms of social isolation, loss of or disruption to education, mental health issues etc, etc.
That said the government are utilising this approach in an effort they believe to control plus limit spread. Other Nations have also implemented this approach too, so we are most certainly not alone. Alongside that other public health measures such as social distancing, mask or face coverings and also increased hand sanitation have become the so called "new normal."
New Rules & Regulations:
Regards Face 2 Face Hypnotherapy the UK Regulator to which I am signed up to is the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care and they implemented guidance for us and the guidance was very detailed plus rigorous and comprehensive in addition to the guidelines of private venues where Clinics are held where the Landlord may well have implemented their own stringent requirements.
As such my Clients were going to have to wait outside, even in the cold or rain, to be monitored with cameras which captured both sound and vision in the communal areas of the building. They were to be temperature checked before entry too. They had to be masked at all times, the Waiting Rooms were closed. All surfaces they touched had to be disinfected, they were not even to be allowed a pen or pencil unless able to keep it, in other words it could not be handed back to the therapist and the list went on and on, with visors between therapist and client too. Now tell me this often I like other Hypnotherapists see clients for phobias or anxiety, just how were all those rules, regulations and limitations going to help to relax an already anxious client??
Client Confidentiality and Contact Tracing??
Now let us look at confidentiality of one's clients.
If they are to be monitored by the Landlord upon entry and recorded with visual plus voice, where is that recording viewed??
In addition in terms of Covid, they had to be listed for Contact Tracing?? Confidentiality of clients is a must is it not. Telling a third party the names and addresses plus telephone numbers of my clients if I tested positive for Covid 19, was simply something I was not prepared to do! In addition if any of my Clients had tested positive then they would have to divulge my name and contact details too. Plus there would have been disruption to treatment through the requirements to self isolate.
I think the confidentiality avenue is one that has not been fully considered by many Hypnotherapists and their Clients.
It is one thing being contact traced for having been in a shop but for being and consulting with a Hypnotherapist??
The Only Logical Solution:
Thus Online or Remote Therapy was the only logical way I could foresee to allow me to continue in the job I love, it was safer for my clients and it meant I did not have to give their details out to third parties for contact tracing.
I therefore continued to gain more and more knowledge on online protocols, I developed new History Intake procedures as well as information leaflets on how to get the best benefits out of my online consultations, plus I developed audio tracks to support my clients in between consultations as well as providing text and email support too. Frankly I think I have developed a comprehensive system to support those that consult with me.
I have had excellent results too in online sessions, I had to adapt some methods and use others but then again I am a highly qualified plus extremely well trained Hypnotherapist with a decade and a half in clinical practice.
I will continue to develop and grow in my knowledge, skills and experience in delivering online therapy whilst at some point in the future I may well return to offering some Face 2 Face sessions but they will be charged at a higher cost to reflect the additional room rental costs plus travel costs etc and they will only be offered when contact tracing is no longer in force because of the rules regarding confidentiality.

Your Conscious Mind is your Logical plus Analytical Mind, it is the part of your everyday attention where you mind is focused plus concentrating, the part that likes to plan, to calculate, to analyse, to evaluate. This is the part of the brain that educational establishments have pandered to for many decades. It is in effect left brain thinking. Educational subjects such as maths and science in particular are highly valued as subjects because of the emphasis on left brain thinking.
However, there's another part of your Mind, it is your Right Brain, or creative, imaginative mind, the Subconscious Mind. Educational establishments in general have played lip service to the development of the Right Brain, okay, they may make some space for music and art but that is about it, unless they specialise in these subjects.
One could call the Subconscious the Feeling Mind, the Intuitive Mind, in modern neuroscience the Conscious Mind would be synonymous with the Neocortex or the Frontal Parietal Lobes, the front brain hemispheres. The Subconscious would be synonymous with the Limbic System plus Primal Brain Stem, the so called Reptilian Brain.
The Subconscious is often termed especially within NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) the Unconscious Mind because it is everything one is not consciously aware of at any given time.
A simple example is whilst you read this you might not be aware of the hair on your head, or your left big toe, or the temperature in your left hand, not forgetting your right of course. However, as soon as I draw your awareness or attention there, you become consciously aware of what was there all along but was unconscious to you.
Your Subconscious Mind is powerful, so learn to use the wonderful powers of your imagination, visualisation and creativity plus concentration because the subconscious can concentrate on vividly imagining plus creating and projecting to bring about what you really desire.
Now of course one has to take action!! The driving force is not simply using one's powers of visualisation, imagination and creation without doing anything else. You have to take action on what you desire. Now that takes us to three very important concepts, which are:
Desire, Belief and Expectancy!!
Really desire what you want to create in your life, for example, stopping smoking, or getting rid of excess weight, or finding your dream job, or overcoming negative thinking etc.
Plan how you are going to put into plan a systematic way to get what you truly want. Seek out resources perhaps people, books, films as educational resources, even training events and courses. Develop your knowledge, your skills and experience and work on honing your skills.
You have to have a very firm resolve or a real strong belief that you can achieve what you truly desire, so see it, feel it, sense it and belief it. Your belief has to be so strong as sure as the sun comes up in the morning and sets at night, as strong as the sky is above and the earth is below, you get the picture do you not. Or maybe you can begin to really tune into what I am saying and get a handle as to how this could be useful knowledge for you, can you not?
Then expect it to happen, for example when you come home at night, you want light in your home, what do you do? You turn on the light by flicking the switch don't you. You fully believe the light will come on, you don't wait by the switch agonising over whether to flick it or not do you?? I most certainly hope not. So your expectancy must be as strong as that, no hesitancy, just do it!!
Now a highly trained Hypnotist and Clinical Hypnotherapist just like me can really help you to develop your Subconscious Mind to make it work for you in positive ways.
I discovered a great article on the Power of Your Subconscious here, it is well worth a read:

Hypnotherapy is not generally provided by the NHS, however, the good news is that in general Clinical Hypnotherapy is a brief solution focused therapy. Therefore the very best results usually take place within three to four sessions, although please bear in mind that more deep rooted or long standing issues could take longer to treat.
That said often significant positive results can take place often within the first couple of sessions, especially if one chooses a knowledgeable plus well trained Hypnotherapist.
In regards to that please see my own professional qualifications and experience here:
As for the NHS, they have produced this web page here, although I do find it somewhat basic. That said it has a very, very important proviso, which is that Hypnotherapy is not statutory regulated in law in the UK.
However, once again, the good news, is that Hypnotherapy is Voluntary Regulated and is Regulated through the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, therefore, as the Website states it is absolutely essential to only choose your Hypnotherapist if they are regulated by the Professional Standards Authority:
Here is the NHS page to check your Hypnotherapist is Regulated:

Not All Hypnotherapy Is The Same & All Hypnotherapists Are Not The Same:
Your Professional Hypnotherapist is:
My good self, namely, Douglas Clark a Certified Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist, Master Hypnotist & Certified Psychotherapist and I've successfully helped lots of people in Leamington Spa & Warwickshire plus the surrounding areas to make massive life changes for the better!
A Little Bit About My Life:
My Mission is to be of service to you, to really help others because I too know just how important it is to manage one's stress and be the best we, that we can truly be!
You see in my life, I have been a Broker, plus a Secondary School Teacher and Cross Curriculum Manager before realising that I was in Burnout owing to a busy work life plus a very challenging home life.
Ultimately this led me to having to radically rethink my whole life!
I left my successful teaching career and decided to train as a Therapist choosing Therapeutic Hypnosis and Psychotherapy as my chosen path.
Becoming a Carer to My Father:
Just as I was finalising my first diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and Psychotherapy my Father became ill with age related blindness and subsequently dementia. Thus I found myself becoming his Sole Carer! I cared for him for over 12 years, he only needed to go into Care for the last seven weeks of his life.
During that time of Caring, after successfully passing my first diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and Psychotherapy in 2004, I decided to work with charities helping those suffering from anxiety conditions and phobias from 2005.
Passing Advanced Diplomas
I still managed to complete Advanced Diplomas in Clinical Hypnosis and Psychotherapy as well as NLP conducting the vast majority of my professional training, in the earlier years of my caring role and then in latter years after my Father's passing.
My Clinics in Therapeutic Hypnosis & Psychotherapy:
In addition I set up and ran my Leamington Spa Clinic from 2006 which was a busy Clinic, first in Warwick Street, then in Regent Street. In 2018 I opened up another Clinic in Warwick.
Changing Times After My Father's Passing:
After my Father's passing I was rapidly developing all aspects of my Clinics as in the later years of his life I had, had to scale back my Clinic work to look after him much more.
Re-homing a Wonderful Dog:
One wonderful blessing, during caring for my Father, was that I re-homed a beautiful dog who had been trained as a Therapy Dog and he provided both myself and my Father with much love and happiness throughout the years. Unfortunately he passed over in the same year as my Father.
Life Experience Makes a Great Therapist:
I hope you can see, that I have much life experience plus I have professional careers behind me, even before entering therapy work. This all assists me in being a caring plus skilled Therapist.
Above and beyond even that, I hope you get a flavour of my life, my own challenges, how I responded to them and my willingness to help others. It has most certainly been a very challenging seventeen years but equally one filled with growth in maturity and in life.
Of course responding to the Pandemic and making the decision to move to Online Therapy has been another significant challenge too.
I fully believe in giving and in giving, one will receive. True happiness lies in helping others and therapy work if done well, really should be about allowing the Client or Patient to be the best they can be, with appropriate professional help.
If you decide to choose me as your Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, it will be my pleasure to assist you to the very best of my abilities.

Online or Remote Therapy Is Highly Effective.
The simple answer from my perspective is NO!
A strange statement to be made by a highly trained plus extremely knowledgeable Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist plus Master Practitioner of NLP is it not?
Perhaps but then again I think it is best to be open, to be honest and to look at evidence. Clinical or Therapeutic Hypnosis can be a very useful tool when applied in conjunction with Psychotherapy methods.
In effect this is what Clinical Hypnotherapy is, it is the use of hypnosis combined with therapies to affect a change in the thinking, feeling and behaving of a client or patient.
So it begs the question does it not?
Are other forms of Talking Therapies, magic bullets or a cure all?
Clearly they are not and therefore if they are not, then simply adding hypnosis into the mix will not create a cure all or the so called magic bullet effect, will it?
Now my belief is that the use of hypnosis can allow quicker changes to occur, in the thinking, feeling and acting when well applied methods for cognitive and behavioural change are applied within it. The use of hypnosis appears to magnify or intensify the process of change but it is not a cure all nor a magic bullet.
In fact in our training we as Clinical Hypnotherapists are taught not to use the word "cure" and to use instead "resolution of symptoms." Life is fluid, it is ever changing and thus resolution of symptoms is a much more accurate phrase.
Nothing is static, the seasons come and go, the sun rises and sets, days, weeks, years change and so do we as human beings, hopefully we grow in knowledge, understanding and wisdom and learn new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving to help us on our journey ahead but from time to time old patterns may emerge once more and we can either flounder or we can utilise our new knowledge and skills to help us to grow still further.
A great Hypnotherapist is a person whom you trust, whom you have good rapport with, who you learn from gaining knowledge and skills plus tools to help and assist you throughout your life, they are not just somebody who treats you without explaining how you can help yourself too.
For example, I educate my clients as to how the brain functions, what are brainwaves, how hypnosis works, what it can help and what it cannot, how pattern matching or the law of association applies and more as well as teaching them self hypnosis and breathing techniques and how to deal with negative thinking and much more, whist also treating them with well applied Therapeutic Hypnosis and Psychotherapy.
